Client’s brief:-
The client Mr. Shailesh Patel came to us with the linear plot with his mix nature requirements, where he needed privacy from a very busy road in front of house as well he wanted some interactive outdoor spaces.
Context & climate responses:-
Ø The l-shape form of the house responds well to context & climate both.
Ø The solid façade on west & south screen harsh sunlight & enclose the cozy garden & veranda space on north.
Ø The north glazing in double height space connects the kitchen & dining & upper lounge space with garden & allows in a lot of day light.
Challenges:-
Ø The west side main road takes a sharp right angle turn in front of the house , so late evening traffic cast light beam on the front bedroom , balcony & vehicular noise is the west side balcony which overlooks the road.
The design solution:-
Ø To give a solution to this problem, the concrete sliding screen was introduce, which filters harsh west sun, traffic lights & noise which becomes the key feature on the front facade.
Ø The concrete slider can be positioned in different ways to achieve desired privacy.
The story
Ø The wide steps merging with the planters & sculptures gradually lead us to the semi covered veranda, which works as transition space between busy road & cosy garden.
Ø The house has open plan space formation.
Ø Bed rooms are designed as per users taste & functional requirements.
Ø The interiors are versatile as public areas are raw in natures as material palate is Indian stones (kota & Jaisalmer & raw wood) & bed rooms are Mediterranean & retro style
Ø The lounge space at first floor is used as yoga area.
The screen house is perfect example of “from follows functions”.
Ø It’s the design where all odds and challenges to be turn out outstanding bold and minimalistic house façade.
