Site Plan

The museum’s different functions are collected in one long body located parallel to the River Rotna, thus creating two divided and diverse outdoor spaces - an arrival space between densely planted pine trees and an open outdoor area along the river bank.

The proposal has been developed with inspiration from the forest finns’ history and building traditions, which are interpreted and processed into a modern architectural expression. The architecture seeks to recall the memories of the past through atmosphere, material, construction, and with interpretations of historical motifs that recounts the culture of the forest finns.
