The demise of the fishing industry as a community initiative has been taking place throughout the Port Klang since the Second World War. However, recently the situation has escalated. Export businesses are taking away the process and production from the people’s hands and into corporate factories, this is having a correlating effect on the town of Port Klang, causing community values and fishery traditions to be lost. This project is an examination of the opportunity to revitalize the old, small scale fisheries industrial community of Teluk Gong, Port Klang that breaks the current detrimental cycle of exportation. The goal of the project was to rejuvenate the community through providing the facilities for local fishermen to catch, process and sell their products, in turn reengaging the surrounding community with their fishery tradition’s identity. In-depth exploration of the depleting fishing communities within the Teluk Gong, Port Klang. The ambitious aim was to revitalize the local community by providing the facilities for local fishermen to catch, process and sell their products, whilst re-engaging the local people with their cultural heritage and sustainability. The challenge herewith lies in providing a sufficient platform for the local fisherman community to go out of the shackles of poverty by introducing a new local fish market as a design solution that positively impacting the lives of its users. Hence, the local community could upgrade their socioeconomic value by increasing direct profit to the society, increase job opportunities and introducing new local fisheries programme for tourist attraction.
