I’m a Bahraini architect and researcher with interests in computational design, material systems, and novel fabrication techniques. I’m currently a SMArchS Computation student and a graduate fellow at MIT, previously I was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Michigan and have gained professional experience at Diller Scofidio + Renfro, New York and Studio Anne Holtrop, Bahrain
In 2012, I joined the architecture program at the American University of Sharjah in the UAE with certain expectations in mind regarding what it means to be an architect - albeit those expectations were very limited in scope. Through the years I have learned the true capacity of architects, exceeding the reduced roles that are embedded within our society as mere space makers. Architects today are polymaths, converging design with computer science, material science, engineering, robotics, biology, and so on. It’s a powerful field that’s incredibly stimulating and rewarding to be a part of.
